About Ted

Ted Smith, Vice President of Engineering and Operations, is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix, is registered as a Professional Engineer, and completed the NRECA Management Internship Program in 2008. 

Ted has 27 years of utility experience with 19 years of senior management experience in the rural electric program. He previously worked as an operations supervisor for Montana-Dakota Utilities. Previous experience also includes work as an area operations manager for Northwestern Energy and worked for IBP, Inc. of Nebraska as a member of the corporate electrical engineering staff. 

Ted directs the engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and dispatch functions for the Cooperative.
