    Basin Electric Power Cooperative (Basin Electric) is set to build a new natural gas-fueled generation facility in Williams County, North Dakota, pictured in this artist’s rendering. The nearly $4 billion project, called the Bison Generation Station to be constructed near the town of Epping, will produce approximately 1,490 megawatts (MW) of electricity, one of the largest electric generation projects in the cooperative’s history.

    Winner Announced in Fifth Annual Regional ‘Who Powers You’ Contest

    Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership (ICAP), headquartered in Madison, South Dakota, has been awarded the first-place grand prize in the fifth annual ‘Who Powers You’ contest. Sioux Valley Energy, along with other electric cooperatives, hosted the contest spotlighting outstanding individuals or organizations making a difference in their communities.

    Sioux Valley Energy and Power Suppliers Award More Than $35,750 in Scholarships

    Graduating high school seniors were awarded $35,750 in scholarships from Sioux Valley Energy and its power suppliers this year. The majority of scholarship funds came from Sioux Valley Energy’s Operation Round Up® program, with additional funds from Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC), L&O Power Cooperative, and the Rodney Park Memorial Scholarship. Park was a journey line worker who worked at SVE from 1973 until 2006 when he passed away. Additional scholarships were awarded to the Cooperative’s EmPOWER Youth Leadership participants.

    During the most recent quarterly meeting of the Sioux Valley Energy Customers’ Trust Board of Directors, $35,899 in grants were awarded by the Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® program. An additional $5,000 was reserved for scholarships.
