District Meetings

Sioux Valley Energy holds annual District Meetings to keep members informed and engaged in cooperative operations.

Members enjoy a complimentary meal followed by a business session, and in designated districts, they vote for their board representatives.

A series of 10 district meetings are held per year.

2025 Colton District Meeting Serving Group

Sioux Valley Energy is seeking non-profit groups in 10 area communities to serve the meal at upcoming District Meetings. Each group will be asked to provide 10 to 12 volunteers to serve the meals prepared by our event caterer. Youth-oriented groups must have adults assisting with the serving. Servers will assist prior to the start of the meal and finish their work at the start of the 7 p.m. business meeting. Preference is given to groups residing in the district where the meeting is held and also to groups who have not served the previous year. If multiple groups sign up to serve a meeting, a drawing will be held.

Petitions can be obtained at www.siouxvalleyenergy.com or by calling 800-234-1960. The Cooperative Bylaws state the qualifications needed to be a director (see below). Interested members are encouraged to contact Brenda Schelhaas, Executive Assistant. All Board seats elected in 2026 will serve three-year terms. *Denotes election meetings

*Petitions must be delivered to a Sioux Valley Energy office location or postmarked by the petition deadline. Sioux Valley Energy encourages district members to gather extra member signatures and to deliver or mail completed petitions in advance of the petition deadline to ensure time for member verification.

The nominating petition, along with an executed Conflict of Interest Disclosure statement and an executed Director Qualification Certification form, must be filed by the candidate at the corporate headquarters of the Cooperative or a Sioux Valley Energy Service Center at least sixty (60) days prior to the date of the District Meeting. A total of 10 signatures of Sioux Valley Energy members within the district where you are running must be included on the petition. Sioux Valley Energy encourages district members to gather extra member signatures and to deliver or mail completed petitions in advance of the petition deadline to ensure time for member verification. An online petition may be requested by the candidate and will allow electronic signatures to be submitted for the nominating petition. Please call 800-234-1960 if you would like to submit a request for an online petition. Note: Signatures of spouses holding joint membership count as one.
