How do I know if I'm being controlled?
South Dakota members can log on Here. Click on the load management tab, click on current status and you'll be able to see what loads are being controlled. If you would like to know which group you are in please contact Sioux Valley Energy’s wiring department at (800) 234-1960.
Minnesota members may contact the dispatch center at (800) 234-1960 to check on their control status.
Sioux Valley Energy must be contacted if there is a need to bypass a load control device for any reason.
Red light = Shedding in progress
Green light = Power on
Yellow light = Cellular Communications Connected
Note: LED indicators are not very bright behind dark plastic covers.

Once you are done with a campfire, make sure to put the fire out. Pour water on the fire until the hissing sound stops; don't use just dirt or sand to extinguish a fire. Stir the water into the embers to ensure nothing is still smoldering. Check that the ashes are cool before leaving the area.

Be aware of the weather when you decide to burn. Don't burn in windy conditions or when vegetation is very dry. Conditions can change quickly so check the forecast and make sure strong winds aren't on the way.

Protect your home and buildings by clearing away vegetation and debris, which could catch on fire. Keep roofs, gutters, decks, and patios free of leaves or other flammables. Review the Home Ignition Zone advice when it comes to planting trees or other landscaping.

Regularly clean equipment, lubricate bearings, and keep fire safety tools nearby. If welding or cutting, make sure there is low fire danger and have extinguishing agents ready.

Search for any local fire restrictions before you decide to burn. Check to see if a permit is required and if burning is safe in your area. Be prepared to call for help by knowing first responder contact information.

Always park on pavement when available. Parking a hot car on dry grass or tall weeds can start a wildfire.
