Sioux Valley Energy no longer will accept or recycle spent CFL light bulbs as the service that we once used has been discontinued.
Below are other CFL recycling/disposal options. Call ahead to be sure the service is still offered:
• The Household Hazardous Waste Facility – City of Sioux Falls will accept CFL bulbs. This facility is available free of charge only to residents living within the five-county region of Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, and Turner Counties. Materials are not accepted at this facility from non-residential properties, such as businesses, farms, churches, or institutions. www.siouxfalls.gov/resident-services/landfill-and-recycling/hazardous-waste/hwf#section-3
• Brookings County does a yearly Household Hazardous Waste Event (last year it was in August) open to residents in Brookings, Deuel, Hamlin, Kingsbury, Lake & Moody counties: https://cityofbrookings-sd.gov/330/Household-Hazardous-Waste-HHW-Event
