Safety is a priority at Sioux Valley Energy...safety of employees, members, and the general public.
The culture of safety is engrained in all employees; at all levels of the Cooperative. The Sioux Valley Energy board, its managers and supervisors truly believe that safety should be second nature in the organization. That means when decisions are made in the board room, safety of all employees and customers is always considered.
Sioux Valley Energy also expects employees to undergo a significant amount of safety training. In fact, apprentice lineworkers are required to have a two year technical degree, must accumulate 8,000 hours of on-the-job-training, and need to complete and pass 10 tests a year. Journey lineworkers take part in all OSHA-required training courses. Ten months out of the year, all Sioux Valley employees attend a one-day safety meeting.
The cooperative also has a safety committee which reviews safety procedures and practices, conducts inspections of the worksite, responds to employee concerns, and helps prioritize safety issues for the cooperative.
Sioux Valley Energy can provide electrical safety training and educational programs for schools and other organizations. For more information, call Sioux Valley Energy at 1-800-234-1960. Click on one of the following links for electrical safety information.
